Register here after reading Tips for registering YOUTH POULTRY SHOW Chairperson – Scott Athey Youth Chairpersons – Sierra & Olivia Athey Sponsor – Scott Athey HEALTH REGULATIONS FOR ALL POULTRY Pursuant to the authority in Chapter 27, Title 3.1, Section 3.1-723 thru 3.1-741 of the Code of Virginia (1950) as amended, the Board of Agriculture and Commerce hereby adopts the following rules and regulations relating to the control and eradication of pullorum disease and fowl typhoid in Virginia. SECTION 12.1 – DEFINITIONS Poultry – Live fowl, including chickens, turkeys, waterfowl and game birds, which are propagated and maintained under the control of any person. SECTION 12.2 – AUTHORITY Full authority for the control and eradication of pullorum and typhoid in poultry in this state is hereby vested in the state veterinarian; and without limiting the generality of the foregoing provision; it shall be the function, power and duty of the state veterinarian to administer the following provisions: All poultry shown in public exhibitions in this state shall have originated from United States pullorum/typhoid clean or equivalent flocks or have had a negative pullorum/typhoid test within 90 days of the movement to the public exhibition. A state veterinarian or his representative will be present on Fair Monday to administer the pullorum/typhoid test. For further information or clarification of the rules, please contact the chairperson of the Poultry Show or a health officer. RULES FOR YOUTH SHOW
ALL GENERAL LIVESTOCK RULES WILL APPLY TO POULTRY EXHIBITORS PLEASE READ!
1. This show is open to any youth that are residents of Frederick County or the City of Winchester, who are between the ages of 5 and 19. 2. Exhibitors will provide their own feed and water for their poultry. Exhibitors are expected to feed and water their birds daily, keep their cages clean, and assist in keeping the poultry building clean. 3. Exhibitors must complete the livestock registration form found in the center of this catalog and mail it to the Frederick County Extension Office by the date stated on the form. All poultry should be brought to the Fairgrounds by 12:00 noon on Fair Monday. Poultry will be judged Monday afternoon. Exhibitors may not enter more than two entries per class. 4. All Exhibitors of market birds to be sold at auction on Friday night must: A. Be tested, registered, and banded on June 30th at 7pm at the poultry building; B. Have 4-H or FFA project book checked on June 30th and fair Monday; C. Participate in two hours of work detail at the fair and send two letters to new buyers; D. Participate in Quality Assurance training; E. Must sign and submit code of ethics form; F. Participate in Poultry Showmanship at 2 pm at Poultry Building on Fair Monday; and 5. Market Birds may be removed by buyer after sale on Friday with bill of sale. 6. A Poultry Showmanship Award will be given to one exhibitor (youth or adult) who shows good sportsmanship and showmanship, assists in keeping the entire poultry area neat and keeps their own cages clean and their birds fed and watered. Scott Athey will serve as a judge and sponsor of this award. A cash award of $20.00 and a plaque will be presented to the Showmanship Award Winner on Friday evening before the market animal auction in the livestock building. 7. All birds must have fair tag on outside of cage and be completed with bird in proper class by 12:30 pm fair Monday or will not be judged. If you need help filling out the tag please come to the poultry building before 11:30 am to allow time for changes. 8. Use white fair tag. Rules for Open Show

Scott Athey will serve as the judge and sponsor of this award. A cash award of $20.00 and a plaque will be presented to the Showmanship Award Winner on Friday evening before the market animal auction in the livestock show barn. 6) All birds must have fair tag on outside of cage and be completed with bird in proper class by 12:30 pm fair Monday or will not be judged.
